Folks

Don't give up on atlasing yet. There are plenty of species still in safe dates. This morning I located a confirmed Great Horned Owl - FL (young food begging), Barred Owls - X in several blocks, and a singing Sedge Wren. The wren was found around 7 AM in Mathias Point SW. The bird is inside Blossom Point, which is a restricted military facility, so you will have to find your own.

I also added some more common species (e.g. Black Vulture, Pileated Woodpecker, Yellow-breasted Chat) to several blocks while working the four blocks I was in. Keep at it. The birds need the protection.

Go early and stay cool. This is the easiest time of the year to confirm breeders.

P. S. Thanks to Zach Bear for helping w/ the night birding this week. The kid is excellent but he eats allot.
