For the past month a domesticated crow has been hanging out at Laytonsville Golf
Club. He(she?) is quite entertaining, but is also becoming quite a nuisance.
Golf cart handlers regularly clean up his little messes from the seats or
steering wheels. He steals all manner of stuff from the golf cars, plucks ball
markers from the greens and will hastily nudge a golf ball into a sand trap. He
has removed trim from golf cars and slightly damaged some golf equipment. He is
easily approached and some of kids who work here have handled him. However, if
he is doing something bad and one tries to shoo him away he gets a little
belligerent. Noone wants to be pecked by a crow! Yesterday, he flew at a
golfer's face and the man had to ward him off. I am afraid someone is going to
harm him. By the way, he is pretty bedraggled and I think he is not faring well
in the wild. Golf course staff have tried to get someone to come and get him,
but have not had luck. Any suggestions? E-mail me
off line or call the course at 301 948-5288 and ask for Josh McCabe or Kevin
Tanner. Everyone at the course wants to save this cool bird. |
