Amazingly enough, I had a good close and long look at a Black and White warbler July 27th back in 2002. What made this really amazing is that I was guiding for clients while I was a bird guide on the Pacific slope of Guatemala! The bird as foraging in low elevaltion cloud forest at about 1400 meters above sea level in moderatly disturbed cloud forest.

If the bird could be down there in late July I'm sure his friends could be anywhere in the eastern half of the United states & Mexico!

Just now I found a Black-and-White Warbler in my yard, gleaning the trunk of
a large maple. It's about two weeks after Atlas safe dates, unfortunately,
but a couple of weeks earlier than what the Yellow Book shows is the big
autumn push-through. I really get a kick out of these little "zebra birds."
Oddly, last night I dreamed my yard was full of migrating warblers.
