An occasional contributor to this list, Frank Powers, of Glen Echo, died suddenly of a heart attack last Monday. Frank was an ardent birder who especially enjoyed ad hoc ventures along the Potomac and C&O Canal. He often reported his findings in these pages. Frank particularly liked bird photography and digiscoping and enjoyed exchanging photos with other practitioners. As I understand it, Frank's enthusiasm for birding was sparked several years ago as a result of an excursion with Ted and Lola Oberman.
His brother, Jack, asked that the following obituary, which has appeared in the Washington Post, be placed here.
