Hi Cathy, thanks for this information. Subject to
final analysis, the June 14 Common Nighthawk is
species #90 for the Washington East SW block, since it
ocurred within the June 5 - July 15 safe date period
for the species.

Thanks everyone for your posts, I missed Cathy's June
17 post.

Some of you asked about sightings of nighthawks at RFK
Stadium. On June 17, I posted the following message to
the Osprey:

Re: breeding area nighthawks, my husband and I have
been seeing nighthawks hunt for bugs above RFK Stadium
during evening baseball games. We have a 20-game
season ticket package and enjoy looking for them. We
didn't see any last night, though--they probably
avoided the place because they sensed the evil in the
New York Yankees.

We had seen the nighthawks at Nationals games on May
19, May 26, and June 14. However, as my posting noted,
the nighthawks did not show up at RFK on June 16, and
we haven't seen them there (or anywhere else) after
mid-June.

We saw a sharpie several times in late spring, and on
the afternoon of July 22 we saw an osprey make a brief
appearance over right field. We regularly see chimney
swifts and barn swallows during the early innings at
night games.
