It was a beautiful morning for walking around Schoolhouse Pond today.
Highlights included a juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron on a low snag
overhanging the edge of the pond. Other waders included a Great Egret, 3
Great Blue Herons, and 2 Green Herons. Also of note were some migrant
warblers, including a female Wilson's Warbler, two American Redstarts and
a Common Yellowthroat. A Solitary Sandpiper fed on the mudflats.
Also, I saw a female Indigo Bunting feeding both a fledgling bunting and a
fledgling Brown-headed Cowbird, which was significantly bigger than the
adult Indigo Bunting. The Trumpeter Swan was resting in the grass near
the pond.
