Hi all --
Barry and I started our fall birding at Rock Creek Park DC today, what with the hopeful change in the weather and having finally recovered from the worst of our post-Australia jet lag. We did first the ridge and then the Maintenance Yard and Military Field. Not a overwhelming day but some good birds were seen, a harbinger of things to come...
Warblers: Black and White (3), Blackburnian (1), Canada (5), Chestnut-sided (3), Magnolia (3), Ovenbird (3), Redstart (9-10). Another birder had a Wilson's and a Yellow Warbler.
Other migrants: SUMMER TANAGER (1, female), Scarlet Tanager (2), Baltimore Oriole (8), Rose-breasted Grosbeak (1), Yellow-billed Cuckoo (2), YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER (1, worn adult), Wood-Pewee (3), Veery (3), Red-eyed Vireo (8-10), Ruby-throated Hummingbird (2), Gray Catbird (5), House Wren (~8).
