I started the afternoon checking Hains Point for storm birds, but nothing of
major interest there--both yellowlegs, a few flyby Forster's Terns, and a
flyover mixed flock of shorebirds that included around 15 Short-billed
Dowitchers. I then went to Violette's Lock to chase the birds from the
earlier posts, but no luck there. I moved up to Sycamore Landing and found
2 PIED-BILLED GREBES and 2 Green-winged Teal. A quick check of the
impoundments at Hughes Hollow revealed no birds of interest, but there was
plenty of gunfire.

At the Hughes Road polo fields from 4-4:30pm this afternoon, I saw some of
the same birds reported earlier today, but no Upland Sandpiper. I saw 2
BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS and 2 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS, hanging together
tightly as a flock. Also at least one CLIFF SWALLOW mixed in with the
others.
