Elliot and Nancy Kirschbaum, Debbie Terry, and I birded the C&OCanal between mileposts 58 and 62. This is the area that includes Weverton and Sandy Hook opposite Harpers Ferry. Lots of chickadees, titmice, Carolina Wrens, and Cardinals but few migrants. Others included:

DC Cormorant 8
Great Egret 2 flying upriver
Green Heron 3 (2 adults and 1 juvenile)
Osprey 2
Red-tailed Hawk 2
Ruby-throated Hummingbird 10, mostly at Jewelweed (only 1 adult male)
Pewee 2
Warbling Vireo 13 (only 2 seen but 12 were singing)
Red-eyed Vireo 2
Raven 1
Tree Swallow 50
Black-&-white Warbler 2
Rose-breasted Grosbeak 4
