A visit to Pickering Creek Audubon Center this morning yielded several
quite nice birds. However most of the wetland areas have too much
vegetation for good viewing. The single 'open' pond held one Pied-billed
Grebe and one Blue-winged Teal along with several Mallards. On the
shoreline beside the pond just in front of the large viewing platform the
Willow Trees have grown large enough to be snag a few warblers. Palm
Warblers (2) and a Yellow Warbler were using those trees today.

    Other highlights:
Veery --- two very cooperative birds put on a fascinating show
of preening and dancing!
Blue Grosbeak ---- a family group still together -- four chicks
with two adults
Bobolinks --- mostly heard but a few seen
        Northern Harrier
        Cooper's Hawk
        Pileated Woodpecker ---- heard only
Bald Eagle --- carrying nest material towards the nest site that is
near the boat house
        Gray Catbird
        Belted Kingfisher
        Common Yellowthroat
        Yellow-breasted Chat
