Took an afternoon drive up to the Flats to see some of the reported
shorebirds, and the Stilts in particular. Never having been there before,
it took me some roaming to find the right spot to park and get close to
the mudflats. I was greeted by two ospreys soaring over the creek and got
started examining the large flocks of waders. I counted a stunning total
of 69 stilt sandpipers!

Birds of interest were:
Great egret: 8
Bald eagle: 1 adult fly-over
Osprey: 2
Sharp-shinned hawk: 1 juvenile
Killdeer: 10-15
Semi-palmated plover: 1 juvenile
Greater yellowlegs: 3
Lesser yellowlegs: 100+
Solitary sandpiper: 1
Western sandpiper: 1
White-rumped sandpiper: 1
Baird's sandpiper: 1
Pectoral sandpiper: 13
Least sandpiper: 100+
Semi-palmated sandpiper: 20+
Short-billed dowitcher: 8
Belted kingfisher: 2
Veery: 1
Wood thrush: 1
Eastern kingbird: 1
Eastern wood-pewee: 2
Empid sp.: 2
Eastern phoebe: 2
Great crested flycatcher: 1
Yellow warbler: 1
Northern parula: 2
Rose-breasted grosbeak: 1

Needless to say, this was not my one and only visit to this location:)
