Hi all --

Depute the gloomy weather, a good morning at Rock Creek DC, in the Maintenance Yard (the "ridge" being dark and quiet). Most of the actvity was when a large mixed flock came through, birds flying everywhere, then they disappeared for a while, came back and then (as it started to rain) finally faded into the forest. The highlight was a female GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER, first seen by Dan Eberly at first light, then later by most of us as it foraged with the flock.

Warblers: Black-and-White (6), Blackburnian (1), Blackpoll (1-2), Baybreasted (1), Black-throated Green (2), Black-throated Blue (1, heard only), Canada (1-2), Chestnut-sided (5), GOLDEN-WINGED (1), Magnolia (3), Nashville (1), Redstart (8), Wilson's (1), Yellowthroat (~25!).

Other migrants: Red-eyed Vireo (~25), Scarlet Tanager (12), Baltimore Oriole (3), Rose-breasted Grosbeak (2), Great Crested Flycatcher (1), Wood-pewee (4), Veery (6), Swainson's Thrush (1), Wood Thrush (2), House Wren (12), Brown Thrasher (2), Gray Catbird (~20-25), large flocks of Grackles have also appeared.

Also, Barred Owl flushed in woods as we walked back.
