Hi all --

It was one of those "more birders than birds" mornings at Rock Creek Park DC, looked good at first with clear skies and sunlight but the birds were few and far between. Appears that the guys around two days ago took advantage of a clear night and left, while new faces failed to appear (rain to our north for one thing). It then got cloudy, then clear again for about a half-hour. In that half-hour, hundreds of robins and good numbers of jays, flickers and a few thrashers flew over the ridge.

Migrants seen (not all by us) included: Kestrel (2), Black-and-White (2), Blackburnian (1), Black-throated Green (1), Magnolia (2), Parula (3), Redstart (4-5), Yellowthroat (6-7), Scarlet Tanager (4-5) Baltimore Oriole (3), Rose-breasted Grosbeak (1), Red-eyed Vireo (8), Wood-Pewee (5), Acadian FC (1), Empid sp. (1), Great Crested FC (1), Ruby-throated Hummingbird (1) & I think there was also a brief glimpse of a Yellow-throated Vireo.

These would be great if all they showed up in our garden, but at Rock Creek at the height of the season, a slow day...
