Yesterday (9/22), about 5:45 pm, there was an odd looking goose swimming
with normal looking Canadians out near dam area of Little Seneca Lake.
The bird had a mostly white head and dark bill w/ a white neck speckled
with black. The bird (about same size as smaller Canada Geese near it)
had 2 white patches, one at rump and other starting just forward of
legs. Its back was colored like a Canadian but it had pinkish legs and
feet. It looked part Canadian/part Snow Goose but plumage colors near
base of neck appear nonsymmetrical maybe suggesting a
Canadian/domesticated species hybrid.
Other waterbirds were scare. A few Blue-winged and Green-winged Teal and
a Spotted Sandpiper.
