Greetings,
I sepnt this morning at Turkey Point in Cecil County. IT was a good day
but, for me, many of the migrant passerines were moving, which made
identifying them difficult. The highlight was a Nashville Warbler that
landed long enough ona well-exposed branch at eye level. Other passerines
around included Black and White, Black-throated Blue, Black-throated
Green, Blackburnian, Yellowthroat, Cape May, Parula, Magnolia, Red-eyed
Vireo, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Blue-headed Vireo, Rose-breasted Grosbeak,
Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Pheobe, Tree Swallow, Northern Rough-winged Swallow,
Chimney Swift, Ruby-throated Hummer, Meadowlark, and Bobolink. Birders
included myself, Richard Donham, and a birder from Delaware (Dave
Hirschof?)-sorry, I know I am getting the name wrong...
Just before dusk I went to Jackson's Marina on Hances Point, south of
North East. Here I found a lone Pied-billed Grebe way out on the bay, as
well as 20 or so Laughing Gulls loafin on top of the covered slips. One
Forster's Tern flew by also.
I'll be at the Hawk Watch tomorrow bright and early -weather permitting.
Good Birding,
Chris Starling
