Hello All,
WARNING! This is an exercise in extreme listing behavior and extremely localized birding minutiae. If these things offend you, please delete.

If not, I offer you a quiz on the next birds to be added to my list at Oak Grove. We have various speculations as to the next North American species or the next Maryland species, so I am speculating about which bird will be bird #200 on my local list. I originally thought of this idea when by list stood at 194. But this fall has been wonderful with many unexpected birds. Since then I have added Cliff Swallow, Connecticut Warbler, Lark Sparrow and potentially Mississippi Kite.

When I initially made my own predictions (when the list was at 194), I picked 6 birds. Of the 4 recent additions, only one was on the list (Cliff Swallow). Seems my predictive power was not so great.

I you want to partake of this little quiz, please email me off list and I will send you a current list. Please submit to me your choices (3) for the next birds to arrive. Use your local knowledge of mid-shore birds and their distribution in southern Caroline, northeastern Dorchester and western Sussex Counties. My area is a seemingly ordinary mix of farms and woods that seems to continue to turn up some wonderful birds.

As a bonus quiz, I also break down the local list by month. Which month has the most species (138)?

If there is any interest, I will tally the responses and post the results.

Good Birding,
Glen Lovelace III
