Swan Creek: 8 Sparrow species and a Sapsucker

Hello all.

I surveryed the Swan Creek Dredge Material Containment Facility today from 
0640-1100.  Great day for walking this excellent property. 

Sparrows were not exactly 'abundant' but were in most of the brush and tree 
trim lines along the dredge access roads and wetland areas. Eight sparrow 
species seen...and October is just starting! Had first-of-season White-
throated, White-crowned, Lincolns and Swamp Sparrows along with one Yellow-
bellied Sapsucker, some lingering waders and a late-ish Marsh Wren.  

Totals:

Double-crested Cormorant: 3
Great Blue Heron: 9  In trees along wetland areas and along pond shore
Great Egret: 2  Mitigated wetland
Little Blue Heron: 7  4 immature, 1 subadult, 2 adult...still there!
Mute Swan: 3
Canada Goose: 5
AMER. BLACK DUCK: 2  Mitigated wetland
Mallard: 2  flyover
WOOD DUCK: 2  flyover
Turkey Vulture: 5
Cooper's Hawk: 2  flyovers due southwest
Killdeer: 1
Ring-billed Gull: 265 (+)  Mostly in North dredge cell
Herring Gull: 8  flyovers over Patapsco
Great Black-backed Gull: 80 (+)  North dredge cell and beach along Patapsco
Caspian Tern: 30 (+) North dredge cell
Mourning Dove: 5
Rock Pigeon: 6
Chimney Swift: 35 (+)
Belted Kingfisher: 2  Non-mitigated wetland
Red-bellied Woodpecker: 3
Northern Flicker: 5  Three were flyovers
YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER: 1  Near the trail's end
Downy Woodpecker: 4
Hairy Woodpecker: 2  male, female
Eastern Phoebe: 5  Enjoying them while they are here
Blue Jay: 12
Amer. Crow: 8
Carolina Chickadee: 14  Seemed to be everywhere
Tufted Titmouse: 5
White-breasted Nuthatch: 3
Carolina Wren: 7
MARSH WREN: 1
American Robin: 2
Gray Catbird: 16  In locations all over the facility
Northern Mockingbird: 6  Patrolling the parking lot areas
Brown Thrasher: 6  Excellent number, 2 birds each in 3 locations
Cedar Waxwing: 5  small flyover flock
Blue-headed Vireo: 1  off of thw woodland road
Magnolia Warbler: 3
Black-thriated-blue Warbler: 1 female
Palm Warbler: 2  yellows
Yellow-rumped Warbler: 3  Good to see them
Common Yellowthroat: 5  Every plumage represented
BLUE GROSBEAK: 2  Near the trail's end.  Getting late, isn't it?
Eastern Towhee: 1
Field Sparrow: 3  In a field near old copper refinery
Savannah Sparrow: 9
Song Sparrow: 27
LINCOLN'S SPARROW: 2  Brush opposite the south dredge cell. 
SWAMP SPARROW: 1  mitigate wetland area
White-throated Sparrow: 21  four small groups
WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW: 1  Mixe3d in with a group of WT's
Red-winged Blackbird: 40(+)
Common Grackle: 1  Only one (!)
Northen Cardinal: 12
House Finch: 3
American Goldfinch: 16
