I noticed that if you have a password set up on the MDOsprey 
listserv, you can log in and then edit your preferences so that the 
list of messages always appears sorted the way you want it.

Otherwise I'm afraid it does default to being in alphabetical order 
by subject line, and you have to push those buttons at the top every 
time.

Your username is whatever email address you are using for the 
MDOsprey. You can set up a password by clicking on "Get Password" 
on the first page, just above the weekly list.

I won't describe on-list how to edit your preferences.
