On my way back to Bel Air from Blacksburg, VA today I birded with Hans Holbrook and Bill Hubick at Middle Patuxent. I also stopped by the Burkittsville pond in Frederick and Blue Mash before meeting them. Ruby-crowned Kinglet was certainly the bird of the day.

Burkittsville Pond:
Canada Goose 500+
Snow Goose 3 (2 white, 1 blue)
American Coot - 1
Black Duck - 4
Ruddy Duck - 4

Blue Mash:
Greater Yellowlegs - 1
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 20
Blue-headed Vireo - 1
Savannah Sparrow - 2

Middle Patuxent: (THE place for seeing thrushes)
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 20
Golden-crowned Kinglet - 10
Veery - 1
Swainson's Thrush - 1
Gray-cheeked Thrush - 1
Hermit Thrush - 3
Blue-headed Vireo - 1
Nashville Warbler - 1
Black-throated Blue Warbler - 5
