Hello Everyone,
Before a meeting in DC this morning I birded the maintenance yard area of
Rock Creek Park. Several other birders were there as well. It is always nice
to put faces with names!
Neotrop migrants were scarce, but there were plenty of other birds to keep us
hopping. Both varieties of Kinglets were in good numbers, especially the RUBY-
CROWNEDS which were everywhere. Also in evidence were all 7 woodpeckers,
with at least two SAPSUCKERS and one heard-only RED-HEADED.
Sparrows were in nice numbers with dozens of WHITE-THROATED, many
CHIPPING, and smaller numbers of SONG and SWAMP as well as TOWHEES and
JUNCOS.
Finally, there were several RUSTY BLACKBIRDS flying around with a few
perched atop a tree. List follows (49 species):
