Hi all,
I led a walk for The Backyard Naturalist in Olney this morning to Blue
Mash. We saw or heard 46 species, including a late YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT, as well
as a single Snow Goose which was "leading" a small flock of Canada Geese as
they flew into and then back out of the big pond. Sparrows were seen in small
numbers because the wind kept them down in the low weeds.Waterfowl were few
(Green-winged Teal, Ruddy Duck, A, Wigeon and Mallards) along with a single
Greater Yellowlegs, Great Blue Heron, both kinglet species, Palm Warbler and
Yellow-rumps. Everything else was expected (N. Harrier, Sharpie and Coopers,
Red-tailed and shouldered Hawks, etc.)

Yesterday afternoon I was there for a couple of hours as well and had 2
MERLINS fly over, along with my first of the season Brown Creeper.

Heading for Hawk Mountain,
