This a.m., about 07:45 as I walked west on C St. NW in front of the Dept.
of Interior, a guy spread some bird seed or crumbs. Several pigeons
descended to join the House Sparrows. Something told me to look right
and up, and at that point, the Red-Tailed Hawk lifted off the front of the
Interior building, and dived at the pigeons on the south side of the street.
They scattered, and it followed one, to disappear into the foliage. A very
inspiring sight to begin the day! The view was close enough, that this time
I could distinguish a vestigal belly band. But it's quite faint.
