Hi All,

Nancy and I took Ian down to St. Michael's for a visit with a friend and 
went off in search of the Easton Eared Grebe. We arrived at the Easton 
Wastewater Treatment Plant (via the Barker's Landing Rd entrance) in 
time to look for the bird with Danny Poet. The bird was indeed present, 
spending most of its time well offshore. At first the grebe spent almost 
as much time under water as on the surface, but it eventually did some 
preening and took a nap. Also present were 45 Northern Shovelers, 40 
Ruddy Ducks, and 2 American Coot. A few Tree Swallows were flying 
around. On the big pond was a good sized flock of Canada Geese, five 
Ring-necked Ducks, and five Ruddy Ducks.

Nancy and I explored our way down to the Bellevue ferry landing. At the 
landing we counted 32 Common Loons; one drake Long-tailed Duck, our 
first of the season; and nine Bonaparte's Gulls.
