Hi all --

Cold and sunny today at Rock Creek Park DC, we are birding the park much
later than usual this year and are quite pleased with what we have seen.
Obviously things are reaching the "end" so to speak, of migration, but still
some pushes today of Phoebes, Winter Wrens and Hermit Thrushes and some
lingering migrants and "half-hardies." Sparrow numbers still good but down a
bit from earlier in the week. The robins and waxwings of earlier in the week
were gone, though still lots of berries about. We started at the Maintenance
Yard, couple of other birders there as well. Things really didn't get
started until about 8 am and then continued to liven up as it warmed. After
the Yard we visited the Ridge and Military Field.

Birds seen: Eastern Phoebe (4-5), Hermit Thrush (~10), Bluebird (4),
CATBIRD (2), Winter Wren (8-9!), HOUSE WREN (1), PALM WARBLER (1, yellow),
YELLOWTHROAT (1), Ruby-crowned Kinglet (10), Golden-crowned Kinglet (6),
White-throated Sparrow (~35), Song Sparrow (~30), Swamp Sparrow (1), Field
Sparrow (4), Chipping Sparrow (~20), FOX SPARROW (1), Junco (~25), Towhee
(5). Plus the usual suspects such as Titmouse, Chickadee, etc.

Where are all the Yellow-rumped Warblers??
