Hi all --

Still plugging away at Rock Creek Park DC and although things are definitely
slowing down, there are birds to be seen -- and the colorful foliage makes
it a pleasant morning out! The big change is that the many sparrows of the
last week have...gone...somewhere. Also the Phoebes and most of the
lingering "half-hardies." Most of the birds were in the Maintenance Yard
which still has lots of berries and seeds.

Birds seen: BROADWINGED HAWK (1), Cooper's Hawk (1), Y-B Sapsucker (1),
Hermit Thrush (3), BROWN THRASHER (1, looking a bit ill alas..), HOUSE WREN
(2), Winter Wren (8), Golden-crowned Kinglet (~15), Ruby-crowned Kinglet
(2), Swamp Sparrow (1), Chipping Sparrow (~12, at Ridge), White-throated
Sparrow (10). Also three Fish Crows overhead, not common here at this time
of year. Only a handful of Robins about.

Re the Broadwing, it is late and we actually had another one yesterday over
our house in Colesville.
