Hi Folks,

An afternoon walk around Southwest Area Park, Balt. Co., was pleasant, but
not terribly birdy. Of more interest are birds that Brian Sykes tallied at
the Halethorpe Farms Pond. Highlights:

    SWAP (Stan & Elaine Arnold), 4-5:30 p.m.:
Wood Duck--1 drake
Great Egret--1
Cooper's Hawk--1
GC Kinglet--1 heard
Hermit Thrush--5 together bathing in puddle in path, near dusk
Field Sparrow--5
Savannah Sparrow--2 or 3
WC Sparrow--2 juveniles

Halethorpe Farms Pond (Brian Sykes), 7-11:30 a.m.:
Green-winged Teal--1 male
Ruddy Duck--2
Pied-billed Grebe--1
Great Egret--2
Green Heron--1 imm
Black-crowned Night Heron--1 imm
Sharp-shinned Hawk--1
Cooper's Hawk--1
Am. Coot--4
Brown Creeper--1
Rusty Blackbird--small flock

Other interesting birds picked up in the past week or so at this pond
(B. Sykes):
10/19--Forester's Tern
10/23--Osprey
10/28--Blue-winged Teal
10/30--Connecticut Warbler

Meanwhile, back in our yard in Ferndale (AA Co.), things really slowed
down with the warmer weather. The Ruby-crowned Kinglet continues to come to
the suet, and at least one Hermit Thrush continues hanging out in our
pokeweeds.
