Beautiful day in DC today (Sat, 11/11), with lots of bird activity though
little of it falling into the "unexpected" category. Best bird for me & Rob
Hilton was a basic plumaged DUNLIN at Georgetown Reservoir. It was in the
back impoundment, which is drained and has lots of nice mud. Also present
were 4 KILLDEER. Only other bird of interest was the flock of 6 COMMON
MERGANSERS that flew overhead at Palisades while hawk-watching.
Best bird at Rock Creek Park was a flyover RUSTY BLACKBIRD. Otherwise there
was a latish EASTERN PHOEBE, lots of ROBINS flying over, many RUBY-CROWNED
and 1 GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET, and a flock of CHIPPING SPARROWS and DARK-EYED
JUNCOS.

Good birding,
