IT is way too late for Veerys to be around isn't it? They aren't generally found on the coastal plain in any case right? I could almost swear I heard one over in the woods this morning, early.

It must have been one of those rascally starlings then.... dang!

Other than that, for some reason this morning was completely wild with little birds at my feeders- 30-45 or so, zooming around from feeder to feeder. The Finches are back and the Timice are not happy about it.
  Titmice (5-6),
  Chickadees (3?),
  Cardinals (~6),
red finches, not sure which ones, think both (8-10),
  juncoes (4),
  White Throated Sparrows (6 +/-),
Blue Jays, causing a ruckus (2),
  HOSPs (~15),
  Downies (2 pairs I think),
  WB Nuthatch (2 - 1 seen, I HBNS )-
  Crows - OH (5)
  Mockingbirds (2)
  Carolina Wrens - (4)

and another Nuthatch who was very pink underneath, couldn't get a good look -- he was not as la-de-da about my presence as the regulars.

No bee-Beer this morning but there was an 'incident' (tussle-chase) involving 2 cardinals and a ULBB and the cardinal (?) made a completely weird noise I've not heard - kind of growling-trill-squak. The Cardianls won that round (whatever it was about) ULBB buzzed off.
