We saw the NORTHERN SHRIKE today, briefly but conclusively, a little after
1pm. It was on the east side of Shriver Road in the top of a small tree along
the fenceline, across from the house with the blue tarp, just past the bend in
the road. We were using the telescope; could see its markings clearly, and got
a good look at the beak with a stronger lens.
Also in the vicinity: a harrier in a field on the west side and a tree full of White-
crowned Sparrows at the corner / bend in Shriver Road. A kestrel was on the
wires on Taneytown Road just east of Bollinger School Road both times we
drove by.
