There was a lot of fog early along the river so at 8:30 I tried the polo grounds on Hughes Road. There was an initial flock of 30 American Pipits feeding in the northern part of the field within 30 yards of the road giving excellent looks. They were joined a larger flock (total of 100 birds) but they flew to the back portion of the field and were no longer visible from the road. That was a nemisis bird for me and a new lifer!

Hughes Hollow included 3 Red Headed Woodpeckers (Mike Bowen reported that he had seen 3 and heard a 4th). Other birds of note included Winter Wren, Ruby and Golden Crowned Kinglets and a single Swamp Sparrow. The water at Hughes Hollow is really high so the field behind the impoundments is partially flooded.

The river at Violette's Lock was high, there were a dozen Ring Billed Gulls, several Pied Billed Grebe and a single Mallard.
