Drew Bratcher is doing an article for the
Washingtonian Magazine on Jonathan Alderfer.  He was
wondering if anyone had any estimations, official
surveys or so forth about how many people in the DC
area are birding these days. 
 
He also wondered if that number has risen, and if so,
why?
