Hello all.
Before the winds picked up, there were good numbers for waterfowl at Fort
Smallwood today:
Mallard: 40 on the pond
Green-winged Teal: 1 male on the pond, not common here
Lesser Scaup: 450+ on the Patapsco and Rock Creek
Scaup sp.: 250+ more distant birds
Bufflehead: 65
Long-tailed Duck: c. 30 scattered around 'White Rocks'
Also of note:
Pied-billed Grebe: 1 on the pond
Bald Eagle: 1 adult, cruising low over Rock Creek
Red-tailed Hawk: 1 adult
