The Brown Thrasher that we last saw on November 28, after spending
four and maybe more days in our small back yard in West Bethesda, was
back in the yard this afternoon (we assume, without being able to
prove it, that it was the same bird), very squeamish about appearing
in public, but obviously hungry. The bird appeared on the deck just
before dark with our regular squad of Northern Cardinals (10-12),
Song Sparrows (2-3), White-throated Sparrows (2-3) and Carolina Wrens
(at least 1).
We kind of hope that he/she is heading South.
