Just to piggyback on Matt's report, I've heard both a Common Loon and a 
Barred Owl calling from Riviera Beach, across Rock Creek from Ft. 
Smallwood... not what you'd expect to hear in a residential community around 
here...

Hello all.

Lunchtime birding at Ft. Smallwood yielded good waterfowl numbers:

Mallard: 32 Along the Patapsco shore
Lesser Scaup: c. 2200  All along the Patapsco and Rock Creek
Greater Scaup: 110 Picked out in two groups
Bufflehead: 68
Common Goldeneye: 5  Closer to the beach at Weinberg
Long-tailed Duck: 18  Mostly around 'White Rocks'

Also:

Pied-billed Grebe: 1  Pond area
Double-crested Cormorant: 19 'White Rocks'
Great Blue Heron: 2 Pond area
