On Monday (12/18) I watched a juvenile Double-crested Cormorant drying
its wings on one of the small platforms in Wilde Lake. It was still
there today. It seems really late for a DCCO to still be around, but
with the weather so warm, it didn't seem to be going anywhere! What is
the late observation date for a DCCO in Howard County?

A Fish Crow seemed to be trying to find a mate today. He was displaying
apparent courting behavior -- calling over and over, fluffing up his
feathers trying to look as impressive as possible, and looking around
eagerly the whole time. I don't have the chart of safe dates handy, but
I'm pretty sure it's not *this* early! Is there some other explanation,
or is the warm weather just confusing the birds the way it's confusing
the plants? (I have periwinkle flowers in my garden!)
