Hi all,
My daughter Alli and I traveled to Somerset County to view the Tropical
Kingbird, which was putting on a great show from about 11:15 -12:15 or so, while
we were there. It stayed mostly along the side yard mentioned earlier, feeding
on insects (some rather large), but occasionally venturing out to the edge
of the woods and field, and sometimes into the pine tree and middle yard area.
It also spent considerable time in the forsythia shrub at the edge of the
drive/road, where it made for a nice combination of yellow colors, along with
the yellow plastic guy wire wrap and the few forsythia flowers which were
amazingly opened! Also seen were at least 3 Bald Eagles , many vultures and a
couple of Sharpies, along with bluebirds and E. Phoebe.

At Blackwater NWR we found 24 American White Pelicans. There were 21 in one
group scattered out in a long line and mostly sleeping, and another 3
sleeping further over to the left where the Tundra Swans were swimming. Had I not
scoped them I would have passed them off as sleeping swans too. My daughter
shot some good pics of them, as a few were cooperative enough to wake up and
preen.

Others that I saw/recognized at the kingbird spot while we were there: Stan
and Elaine Arnold, John Bjerke and Tony White, Paul Noell, Steve Sanford,
Sherry Paruzzi, and some others whom I may have forgotten.

A nice day and some great birds! Hopefully with some great pictures to back
it up!
