I'm no longer a member of MOS, but it seems to me that that organization
ought to establish a regular award just for this purpose. I know I benefited
from the hospitality of the kingbird folks, Sean McCandless and his neighbors
during the Mississippi kite extraveganza (before things got out of hand), and
Seabreeze Restaurant for Shrimpy (alas they were not open the day I was
there because I certainly would have provided some economic reward in the
form of buying lunch!). The folks that put up with the lapwing hordes also
deserved 'official' thanks from the birding community. I'm sure there are other
recent cases.

I have a recollection that ABA used to give a hospitality award some years
ago, but I no longer find it listed on their website. Shame.
