Hi All,

The Kent County Bird Club will be making a field trip to Eastern Neck
Island to kick off the year. This trip will be held jointly with the
Cecil County Club.

We will meet people at the parking lot of the Dollar General store (the
one with the A&P cupola, across the street from the vulture roost)
between Philosopher's Terrace and the Spring St. intersection on MD-213
at 8:00 AM. Warm clothes are recommended as we will spend quite a bit of
time afoot.

Eastern Neck NWR is often spectacular in the days before major ice-up
with tens of thousands of scaup, hundreds of swans and 16 other
waterfowl species likely (not counting bonuses). The island is also a
good place to see overwintering landbirds including thrasher,
catbird, Hermit Thrush, kinglets, sapsucker, towhee, and Yellow-rumped
Warbler. And let us not forget the almost omnipresent Bald Eagles.

Good Birding,

Walter Ellison & Nancy Martin
