My lunchtime walk had one nice surprise: the Ovenbird was stalking
through the plantings in the Mary Ripley Garden, looking fat and acting
tame.
A flock of a couple hundred Brown-headed Cowbirds was eating grass
seed on the Mall near the American History Museum.
At Constitution Gardens I found a large flock of Canada Geese, along
with a Great Blue Heron, Double-crested Cormorant, American Coots and a
Pied-billed Grebe.
The DC Veteran's Memorial was empty of birds, except for an immature
Red-tailed Hawk.
The Tidal Basin was pretty much empty of birds of any sort.
