... make that 2-Hermit Thrush instead of Wood Thrush.

Roosevelt Island, Wash. DC, 9 Jan 07, 1200-1300

Despite the constant flow of aircraft overhead on approach to Reagan
National, RI offered a nice assortment of birds today. The outer edges of
the island were quite flooded due to the recent rain and current high tide.
Birds observed included:

Great Blue Heron
Canada Goose
Mallard
Cooper's & Red-shouldered Hawk
Ring-billed Gull
Morning Dove
Belted Kingfisher
Red-bellied & Downy Woodpecker
Blue Jay
Carolina Chickadee
Tufted Titmouse
Carolina & Winter Wren
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Wood Thrush (2)
Am. Robin
N. Mockingbird
Song, Swamp & White-throated Sparrow
N. Cardinal
Am. Goldfinch

The highlight of my walk was encountering a herd of 15 deer, which included
several nicely antlered bucks, nonchalantly browsing in the woods adjacent
to the trail.
