Shirley Bailey of the Talbot Bird club called attention to a great flock
of Snow Geese and Tundra Swans in Dorchester County near Preston. See below
for detailed directions.
I followed up on her sighting - and had an absolutely wonderful show
this afternoon. Far too many of both species for even me to have much
confidence in estimating - but having given that disclaimer, I would sat
between 10 and 20 thousand Swan and in excess of 100 thousand Snow Geese.
By scoping the scene for a couple of hours I found one Ross's Goose (there
were surely more) and five birds with neck bands.

......by the thousands in North Dorchester County. A farmer cut his corn,
but did not plow under so there is lots of food. Go through Preston turn
right at the large car dealership to Rtes 16/331 go past a small development
and turn left to Beulah Rd. Then the first right to Gravel Branch Rd. Go
to the first 4 way intersection and turn left to Bobtown Rd. The field is
bordered by Gravel Branch, Bobtown, Payne. Once you reach Bobtown and
probably before, you will hear them.
I have seen large flocks of these before, but not nearly as large as this.
It looks like it snowed.
