A few minutes ago I received a phone call from Harry Armistead on the Eastern Shore. He had been to Hooper Island this morning and saw a female Goldeneye with about two thirds the length of the bill yellow and a noticeably steep forehead. Unfortunately there were no other goldeneyes present for comparison. The bird was seen from 2454 Hooper Island Road on Upper Hooper Island on the Chesapeake Bay side. It was seen on the water and diving.
Harry is not making a definite identification but would like to hear some comment on the field marks for identifying female Barrow's Goldeneye and hopes that someone else may see, and possibly photograph, the bird. He also saw one Eurasian Collared Dove singing about 100 yards south of Parks Road on the west side of the road. Harry also reported double figures of both Gannets and Brown Pelicans in the area and an Oystercatcher, plus 31 White Pelicans at Blackwater! He will make a full report when he gets home.
   Great day, Harry!
