During my lunchtime walk around Schoolhouse Pond, I found a group of 27 Red-
breasted Mergansers on the water with a large number of Canada Geese. This
is one of the largest groups of Red-breasted Mergs that I've seen at the pond,
with my highest count being 43 on February 19, 1998.
Also present was a Great Egret, 1 Double-crested Cormorant, and a small
number of gulls (including 1 1st winter Lesser Black-backed Gull and 1
Laughing Gull). I saw no unusual geese mixed in with the Canada Geese.
