Thanls Andy. Saves me the trouble of looking for them there. It is a
really good winter for Red-headed Woodpeckers at McKee-Beshers WMA in
Montgomery Co.. I have found 8 already, mainly between the main
impoundments and west to Sycamore Landing Rd.. This has always been the
major area for them in winter. Last summer I found 3 adults there and in
2004 I had at least one sucessful nesting.
On the way back yesterday (1-15-07) from one of my winter counts I
found two red-heads at the main impounments- one at the south end of the
dike just before you enter the fields and one a little to the west.
However, I have passed this spot several times this winter without hearing
any.
