Hi Everybody,

I checked Great Oak Pond today, partly in response to J.B. Churchill's
and Mikey Lutmerding's discoveries on Monday. The big goose flocks were
not around during my late afternoon visit but the teal that have been
there gave me a good chance to study them. One of the drakes is a very
nice breeding plumage COMMON TEAL (aka Eurasian Green-wing). Other fowl
present included 4 Tundra Swans; seven Snow Geese; 18 Ruddy Ducks; four
Bufflehead; 6 Lesser Scaup; and 13 American Wigeon. Also present were
three immature Bald Eagles hoping for birdshot-winged geese or discarded
carcasses.

On Saturday the geese were around but we found no Ross's or white-front.
Instead we had five readable neck collars on female Greater Snow Geese,
and four CACKLING GEESE including a family group with Canadas and one
with the Snow Geese.

Good birding,

Walter Ellison
