Hi all My 2 cents worth about the Hoopers Island Golden Eye was that
that bird looked much like Harry's reported Bird and the only Golden
Eye bayside . I know that does not mean much in and of its self . There
were several common Golden Eyes in the much calmer river males as well
female . I did not get as good a look at it as Diane Cole did , trying
to get a photo fumbling for the camera etc . I did get several photos of
a flying speck and do not even know if it was the golden eye . After
stopping the car the bird was agitated and moved more ofshore then flew
I myself would not call it was A female Barrows but it was a bird
of interest and bears looking for again . Having never seen one I can
not go out on that limb but the other side of the coin is that Diane has
seen Barrows Golden Eyes Several times having been to and goes to
Washington State . I hope it can be found again and photographed .
Happy Birding
