Hello Everyone ,

    Saturday January 20, 2007

     COLD COLD COLD

Visited Southwest area park with Brian Sykes on Saturday.
This had to be my coldest day yet as a birdwatcher. Brian says this is
his second coldest day. Wind chill probably in the 20's .
It was one of my most exciting days as well .We accomplished
our goal of checking out the eagles nests (old and new) . Our
most exciting part of the day though was the (and im quoting this from
past postings .) Pied Crow. Im yelling to Brian eagle incoming and hes
yelling whats that on the ground . He had to do much convincing
to get me to take my eyes off the eagle . The crow was in the grass spot in
the middle of the parking lot at the boat launch area . We managed pictures
on all 4 sides of the bird before he exited toward South Baltimore City .
At first we were thinking "new bird" , but luckily i read the md. osprey
and remember he was reported most recently and as much as a year ago.
A great bird. There was a flock of crows in the marsh area being noisy
but none came over to mob the bird. oh and he was eating carrion.
The pond behind the business park on Nursery Rd. had
Canadian Geese, Gadwall, Mallard, DoubleCrested Cormorant, Hooded
Merganser, Ring billed Gull .
