Hi all The Talbot County held their first outing of the season on 1 -
21 8:15 Am till 12:00 pm before the snow hit . Led by Danny Poet 10
hardy birders members and guests turned out for what turned out to be a
great walk. It started out with a little sunshine before giving away to
snow clouds . Birds were very active, feeding before the bad weather .
First stop was at Stevenson Rd site of Saturdays Lapland Longspurs
none were found here but a large flock of larks could be seen in the
distance so we went to Mason Branch Rd were we got wonderfull veiws of
them locating at least 3 Longspurs most everyone got to see them . They
were life birds for some and year birds and county birds for others
as we found the Longspurs rather quickly we to Tuckahoe State Park lake
area to look for the Moorhen which could not!!! be relocated . Then we
went on the lakeside trail on the Caroline Side of the lake . We ended the
day with 52 species . Latter on the way back to the Park and ride at
Rt 50 and 404 Danny Poet and Norm Saunders located 3 more species
for a total of 55 species not bad for a winter outting . My special thanks
to Terry Allen For leading the Easton Group to the 404 meeting area .
