Had an adult Peregrine Falcon at Kenilworth Park, DC, this morning
(1/24), perching very cooperatively on one of the goal posts out in a
field. I got out of my car and it let me approach to about 40 feet
before flying away. This is a new DC bird for me, one I've dipped on
repeatedly in the past. I noticed its head was almost completely dark,
with the "helmet" pattern that Sibley's shows for some birds...

Earlier, Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens held the following:

    Fox Sparrow
    Field Sparrow
    White-Throated Sparrow
    Belted Kingfisher
    American Black Duck (6)
Red-Shouldered Hawk (imm, being harassed by crows)
American Crow (more than 100, they were everywhere)

Plus the usual assortment of Canada Goose, Am Robins, Northern
Mockingbird, Mallard, Blue Jay, Cardinal...

    Good Birding!
