There was a nice assortment of waterfowl on the Potomac River today,
downstream of Violette's lock and adjacent to Blockhouse Pt.

Pied-billed Grebe 2
Canada Geese-many
Mallard 12
NORTHERN PINTAIL 2 (drake and hen)
American Wigeon 3 (4 or 5 more up towards Violette's)
GREEN-WINGED TEAL 15
REDHEAD 6 (5 drakes and a hen)
Ring-necked Duck-many
Lesser Scaup 20
Common Goldeneye 5
Bufflehead 3
Hooded Merganser 1
Common Merganser 2 (4 further up towards Violette's)
Lots of gulls but all Ring-bill's

I did get the Red-necked Grebe this morning (3rd try) at Little Seneca
Lake (thanks Ed Patton!) No LT Duck. Ice coverage probably increased
60-70% from yesterday.

Also, found a female WOOD DUCK at Lake Nirvana in Gaithersburg. Lake
Nirvana is just north of Lake Placid (lake in front of old National
Geographic HQ) off Main St heading into Lakelands community.

Except for my car breaking down Tues-Wed, it was a good end of week with
10 FOY Montgomery birds:
Red-necked Grebe
Horned Grebe
Tundra Swan
Northern Pintail
Redhead
Green-winged Teal
Wood Duck
Red-breasted Merganser
Brown Creeper
Swamp Sparrow
